ABSTRACT
This chapter explores and summarizes a variety of evolving formats, tools, and workflows toward creating and producing final music mixes for immersive audio applications. Aimed at those new to 3-D and spatial audio production, consideration is given to popular formats, such as Auro-3D 11.1, 13.1, and Dolby Atmos™, whilst outlining important benefits and opportunities offered when mixing music using height channels, multiple loudspeaker arrays, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and binaural headphone applications. Associated mixing stage approaches are revealed, outlining how they create a greater sense of engagement for the listener of the 21st century.
