ABSTRACT
We’ve talked about structure when it comes to a single episode of a series, but what about the whole season? After all, part of the appeal of a series is the fact that we can follow our favorite characters as they go through their lives, face challenges and ultimately change and evolve. Just as a single episode has a story arc that becomes a framework to tell a particular story, so should a season have a structure that shapes the individual episodes into a larger framework. This is the series arc. When planned right, this order ensures that the characters evolve consistently and that each episode leads us to a climactic season finale that provides both a resolution and an intriguing setup for the following season.
