ABSTRACT

Most academic societies either sponsor or are associated with scholarly journals and, in addition, publish summaries of the studies that are presented at their annual conferences. The journals and societies generally adhere to the same processes for accepting and disseminating research through their channels. Information published in scholarly journals and most research and analyses that are presented through professional society conferences are refereed, adjudicated, or reviewed, meaning that a manuscript submitted to the journal or an abstract submitted for presentation will be read and accepted or rejected by members of the journal’s editorial board or conference abstract review committee.
