ABSTRACT

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that medical supervision is not necessary during exercise for healthy individuals (children, adolescents, men <45 years of age, and women <55 years of age) who have no symptoms or known presence of heart disease or major coronary risk factors. 1 Therefore, the primary purpose of preparticipation health screening is to identify those individuals who should be excluded from exercise due to medical contraindications.
