ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book analyses the diversity and inclusion in sport organizations. It provides a more detailed discussion of race and racial diversity. The book offers a more in-depth treatment of age and age diversity. It discusses sex, gender, and sex diversity. The book also discusses socioeconomic status and social class, the latter of which combines socioeconomic status and issues of power and privilege. It examines the various forms of diversity such as: mental and physical ability, appearance, religious beliefs, and sexual orientation and gender identity. The book also examines strategies for developing inclusive groups and organizations. It provides an analysis of how sport can be used to create social change in communities around the world. Diversity and inclusion are vital topics in sport and physical activity today.
