ABSTRACT

Wandering down the hall in a perplexed daze, Ken mentally rehashed the entire frustrating meeting. He thought about how Roy’s pudgy pointer finger had sounded when it hammered on the table. He remembered Barbara’s bobbing head as it bounced from the sports page to the conversation and back again. They were supposed to be educators. Why couldn’t they understand? His suspicions had been confirmed, and Ken was now certain that his proposed change of the current evaluation system would receive little, if any, support from his coworkers. He wondered how they could remain so adamantly against improvement of the physical education program. Arriving at his office, he sat down at his desk and looked out the window. Ken thought to himself, “At least Cantor is backing me.” Ken remembered his first days at the school and the responsibility conferred upon him by Mr. Cantor, the principal, for bringing a renewed sense of credibility to the physical education department.
