Sexual assault is a complicated crime that can take many forms. As such, it often goes unreported and unaddressed simply because survivors are unsure of whether or not their experience can be considered sexual assault. It is important to understand that there are no strict guidelines on what constitutes sexual assault; the rule of thumb is that if you feel like it was sexual assault, it was. Because sexual assault involves a violation of your personal boundaries, you are the only one who can say when it has occurred. If you are sexually assaulted:
• Know that what happened was not your fault. Period. End of story.
