ABSTRACT

T he efficiency with which humans perform work or exercise can vary between15 and 40 percent. This means that, of the energy consumed, only 15 to 40 percent is converted into useful work, while the remaining energy (60-85%) is wasted as heat energy. This wasted heat energy must be dissipated, or body temperature will increase. Furthermore, in a hot climate the body also absorbs heat from the environment. These two factors tend to increase the body’s heat stores and thus increase body temperature.
