ABSTRACT

Indg developed Amikasa, a 3D Room Designer that uses furniture, flooring, and wall colors from real brands. With the Virtual Reality mode, Amikasa enables experience of interiors first-hand. The Augmented Reality mode places furniture in perspective and takes light from the surroundings. It also positions the 3D model by guessing sizes and distances relating to what is already in the real room. In 2014 INDG launched Amikasa, a virtual 3D Room Designer application that lets users build, restyle and redecorate their rooms in real time using furniture, flooring, and wall colors from real brands. Amikasa allows for either building the room via the top-down view or walking around it 3D-shooter style to see how objects will look when everything has been put in place. Amikasa is a "Webby" built on top of a framework called RoomBuilder. The hexagonal interface allows for flexibility, but also keeps the number of choices to a sensible minimum.
