ABSTRACT

Stress in the work place is usually determined by more than one stress factor. Being aware of that we found it to be of significant importance to combine demand analyses and time studies, in order to estimate more adequately multiple stresses and the resulting strain. Knowing more about the temporal structure of multiple stresses can help find the causes of high levels of work strain and that in turn can contribute to improving work conditions and the work environment. This set of goals leads to the development of a new method of rating combined stress and strain. People named it "Beanspruchungsskalierendes Verfahren zur Arbeitsablaufanalyse (BVA) a strain rating procedure to analyze sequences of operation. These elementary jobs are then filled in to the left column of the BVA record sheet. They may be executed simultaneously or one after the other. From now on people will refer to them as "job elements".
