ABSTRACT
During the past few years the development of nucleic acid and protein blotting techniques has changed to such a extent that it is important to incorporate the changes and modifications that have been proved to be necessary for the improvement of the technique. Blotting of nucleic acid and protein on membrane is one of the most important techniques in the molecular biology. Various types of blotting techniques have been developed according to the erratic nature of the transferring material like DNA, RNA and protein. This chapter has focused on the principle of blotting technique, its applications and different methodologies have been used for past several years. Various modifications have also been introduced in the blotting techniques and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. At the end of this chapter, the blotting of combination of transferring material like DNA-protein on the PVDF has been discussed.
