ABSTRACT

Since the first word in the title of this chapter is diffraction, the first question is, naturally, What is diffraction? The answer to this question may be simplified as follows. When light passes the edge of an obstacle, its course deviates from that of a straight line. This deviation effect is known as diffraction.
