ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION Latent image formation involves the creation of free carriers by the absorption of an image exposure and the subsequent displacement of these carriers by a corona-induced electric field. Free carrier photogeneration is usually described by a quantum efficiency r| defined as the ratio of the number of free carriers created to the number of absorbed photons. Charge transport is described by a mobility |jl defined as the drift velocity per unit electric field. Experimental techniques for measuring these phenomena are thus of considerable importance to xerography.
