ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we study the direct blind equalization of multiple channel commu nication systems. As we have discussed in previous chapters, discretization of many physical channels can lead to single-input-multiple output (SIMO) discrete linear systems. In particular, oversampling of SISO continuous time systems with excess bandwidth or baud-rate sampling of wireless systems with multiple receive antennas can be well described by SIMO models. Channel equalizers for SIMO channels are sometimes known as fractionally spaced equalizers since this equalizer structure was first introduced for fractionally sampled (oversampled) communication systems.
