ABSTRACT

An NCS that uses a real-time communication network in its feedback control loop has been considered as the next-generation control system. However, as observed in Chapter 1, inserting a network into the feedback loop brings many challenging issues due to network imperfections such as network-induced delays and packet losses that occur during exchanging data among devices. Moreover, these network imperfections can degrade the control system performance significantly, causing instability.
