ABSTRACT
Fieldbus standard IEC 61158-2 defines the maximum dimensions for a fieldbus segment and its proper operation for the case of a safe area. These operations and calculations are for a network based on Foundation Fieldbus H1 or PROFIBUS-PA (MBP). Some additional constraints are imposed for proper operation of the network segment in the hazardous area for explosion protection as defined in IEC 60079.
