ABSTRACT
In modern automatic control systems, signals are usually quantized before being transmitted via communication channels. Figure 5.1 shows the block diagram of a typical quantized control system.

A quantizer can be mathematically modeled as a discontinuous map from a continuous region to a discrete set of numbers. Two examples of commonly considered quantizers are shown in Figure 5.2.
