ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the performance for the integration of the nonlinear Network Control Systems (NCSs) in particular for the actuator of the plant. The plant, a nonlinear affine system, is approximated in terms of its nonlinearities using a Taylor series approach. The relevant optimization for the nonlinear NCSs with the sum-of-squares (SOS) framework is described concretely for a fixed communication schedule. The Lyapunov equation for the closed-loop system is solved and the relevant Lyapunov function is computed. This permits to compute a performance cost of the integrated NCS in a local sense using the SOS approach. This cost computation will allow for a search of the optimal communication schedule which creates the best performing integrated NCS. The chapter presents a nonlinear NCS design for control optimal communication between the nodes.
