ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4, 1-D synchronous prime codes were constructed by cyclic-shifting code-words of the 1-D asynchronous prime codes in Chapter 3. Due to code synchronism, the benefits of synchronous prime codes include larger code cardinality and better code performance than their asynchronous counterparts, and supporting more possible subscribers and simultaneous users. This is because in-phase cross-correlation functions are considered, instead of periodic ones. Some codewords of these synchronous prime codes have zero in-phase cross-correlation functions and achieve true orthogonality.
