ABSTRACT
Variations in availability of energy flows from different energy sources have components on timescales ranging from seconds to years, resulting from short-term fluctuations in cloud cover or wind turbulence, from diurnal effects of the rotating Earth, over seasonal variation, and to interannual differences caused by climatic anomalies.
