Large and high-voltage power transformers are comparatively complicated and expensive elements of a substation. Get acquainted with a project of the ordered transformer on the basis of calculations, drawings, documents prepared by a manufacturer. Transportation and installation of large, heavy transformers may create a problem. It would be a good practice to make a supplier responsible for transportation on site, unloading and putting a transformer on a foundation, as well as execute both mechanical and electrical installation of the transformer. The economical aspect should not be neglected while preparing the technical specifications of the transformer, especially during the design review. Drying and impregnation of an insulation can influence upon whether a transformer can withstand high-voltage electricity not only during a factory test but also during a service activity. Loading of network transformers, varies vastly compared to that of generator transformers. Power transformers, apart from generator transformers and some other minor groups work under loads varying in a wide range.
