ABSTRACT

The simplest way to deal with this problem is to inject an equalizing current through an additional passive network. The possibility is when the switches operate at high frequency and the load current may be considered as constant along TS. The circuit presented in is used, assuming that the switching frequency is much higher than the modulating frequency; in this case, it is valid to assume that the duty cycles of both switches are equal, since the current is almost constant along one commutation period. The idea is to introduce another current in that is present only during transients. These curves are presented in ; they show the limit between real and complex roots. This chapter shows that a phase-shifted carrier modulation uses all the redundant states and helps to maintain the voltage balance on the flying capacitors in steady state.
