ABSTRACT

Telemetry is a specialized form of communication that converts a measured parameter into a representative electrical signal, transmits it to a distant location, and reconstructs it into a quantitative value. Telemetry systems communicate a relatively small amount of data over distances greater than one-quarter mile to multiple sites using limited bandwidth, eliminating the need for operators to be located at, or periodically visit, the remote sites. Because of this, in process control applications they offer fast response and save a great deal of time.
