ABSTRACT

In order to function effectively, a network needs to enforce and provide proper models for network security. One specic aspect of network security, related to network, is access protection. In this chapter, we examine the challenges associated with protecting access to a computer network and the different approaches that can be used to address the various threats to a network. This chapter provides a review of common types of access control models, adversary models for network access control, and the methods commonly used to provide network access protection.
