ABSTRACT
Building on compute and storage virtualization, and leveraging the modern web, cloud computing provides scalable, network- centric, abstracted IT infrastructures, platforms, and applications as on-demand services that are billed by consumption [121]. The key advantages of cloud computing are flexibility, scalability, and usability. These features originate in the combination of virtualization 74technologies with flexible and scalable web services, and lead to cost saving [97].
There are various deployment and delivery models for cloud services. This chapter gives an overview about the most popular cloud services and categorizes them according to their organizational and technical realization.
Afterwards, the different existing services, applications and tools for the customers’ work with the cloud infrastructure and storage services are discussed.
