ABSTRACT

Acetone (C3H6O), synonym 2-propanone, is a powerful solvent the molecule of which has 32 electrons. The molecule has a polarizability of 7.04 × 10−40 F m2, a dipole moment of 2.88 D, and an ionization potential of 9.70 eV. The molecule has 24 vibrational modes (Shimanouchi, 1972) as shown in Table 112.1.
