ABSTRACT

Trichlorofluoromethane (CCl3F) (Freon-11) is a molecule with 66 electrons. It has an electronic polarizability of 10.54 × 10−40 F m2, a relatively low dipole moment of 0.46 D, and an ionization potential of 11.77 eV. It is strongly electron-attaching. The vibrational energies of the molecule (Sverdlov et al., 1974) are shown in Table 73.1. Vibrations of similar type (similar local motion) tend to have similar energies associated with them (Allan and Andric, 1996).
