ABSTRACT

Manufacturing industries have the biggest share in energy consumption and emission of Green House Gases. Key technologies related to machine health degradation detection and energy efficient monitoring include signal processing and feature extraction, and alarm pattern identification and association. Life cycle assessment is unique because it encompasses all processes and environmental releases beginning with the extraction of raw materials and the production of energy used to create the product through the use and final disposition of the product. Performance optimization, robustness, and reliability among an emerging group of heterogeneous systems in order to realize a common goal has become the focus of various applications including military, security, aerospace, space, manufacturing, service industry, environmental systems, and disaster management. Based on a recognized taxonomy of system of systems (SoS), there are four types of SoS which are found in the literature today: virtual SoS, collaborative SoS, acknowledged SoS, and directed SoS.
