ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the design of the feasible round trip time estimator and the rate control module of the Adaptive congestion control framework (NNRC) framework. Robustness against modeling imperfections, exogenous disturbances and delays are proven. The developed rate is guaranteed to be saturated, while modifications are provided to achieve its reduction whenever congestion is detected. Simulations performed on a small-scale network highlight the main attributes of the designed NNRC modules. The adaptive control formulation requires knowledge of a desired round trip time per packet value for all application packets. Unfortunately, no such information is available at the source a priori. To establish a feasible solution, an estimated sending time mechanism should be constructed at the source, aiming at providing reliable reference to the rate controller.
