ABSTRACT

Designers of electronic systems are relying on simulation and emulation tools for their work: the common design practice entails the building of models of the system being designed that are simulated to evaluate whether the design solutions meet the user requirements. Nowadays a top-down design ow is typically used: starting from a very abstract model of the system, which captures the behavior (i.e., the algorithm) the system has to implement, details are added by rening iteratively the model, eventually obtaining a cycle-accurate description of the
