ABSTRACT

A satellite TV antenna is mounted on the roof of a vehicle. The satellite receiving system tracks the signal received by an antenna from the satellite transmitter when a car is in motion. A very important design concept is to facilitate in-motion pointing of the antenna beam toward a satellite. An antenna array consists of 32 ridge waveguides, with right-hand circular polarization and left-hand circular polarization outputs located at opposite ends of the antenna. Digital video broadcasting is a new combination of digital technologies that provides better quality pictures in comparison with analog TV. The adaptive array radiation pattern in horizontal plane for horizontal polarization was estimated by combining the measured radiation patterns of four antennas mounted on the side glass. The designed antenna has a balun that transforms the input impedance of 300 ohm to output impedance equal to 50 ohm.
