ABSTRACT

In this section, node and loop analysis are introduced as methods for computing voltages and currents in electrical circuits. Readers are assumed to have no previous knowledge of these methods. Therefore, the basic principles are first explained and applied to simple dc circuits. Following a few examples, ac circuits are introduced as well. As will become apparent, circuit analysis can quickly become too arduous when many nodes and loops are present. For this reason, a brief introduction to circuit simulation with MATLAB®, PSPICE, and Multisim concludes the section.
