ABSTRACT
We have now seen the same system described by arrays of transfer functions, differential equations and by first-order matrix state equations. We have seen that however grandiose the system may be, the secret of its behavior is unlocked by finding the roots of a single polynomial characteristic equation. The complicated time solution then usually crumbles into an assortment of exponential functions of time.
