ABSTRACT
The current deep submicron technology era-as it applies to low-cost, highvolume consumer digital convergence products-presents two opposing challenges: rising system-on-chip (SoC) platform development costs and
shorter product market windows. Compounding the problem is the rate of change due to evolving specifications and the appearance of multiple standards that need to be incorporated into a single platform.
