ABSTRACT
The most exciting potentiality offered by slow-wave propagation is the enhancement of the optical field inside the guiding media and hence the enhancement of any nonlinear effect with respect to bulk materials. The increment in the field intensity is linearly related to the velocity reduction as the energy is preserved during the propagation.
