ABSTRACT
Nanotechnology inventions and new knowledge will mainly originate in some form of institutional setting. Universities, government-funded laboratories, and the corporate environment will be the major sources. They are each somewhat different in mission, outlook, and ability to actually develop the inventions. The nanotechnology entrepreneur will need to be looking at all these sources to nd the technology bases for his company. This chapter will discuss some of those sources and their characteristics.
