ABSTRACT

Because science is basically the study of “how the world works” from the subatomic scales to the immense scale of cosmology, addressing our education goals with this in mind bene„ts all students. The study of science should ²ow along a line from primary reality to functional truths and then proceed to practical applications that can be used in real-world situations. Interweaving the main scienti„c disciplines of physics, chemistry, and biology as connected processes interacting as networks throughout nature builds a strong foundation for the study of advanced science. It is often said that nature is our teacher at the nanoscale, helping us gain a deeper understanding of the patterns and relationships that allows even young students to “connect the dots.”
