ABSTRACT
As illustrated in Figure 2.1, a phosphor screen is a transducer from the energy of invisible electrons (and photons) to light of visible wavelength. A good understanding of the generation mechanisms of cathodoluminescence (CL) and photoluminescence (PL) in phosphor screens may help in the optimization of luminescence properties, both theoretically and practically.
