ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses privacy and security parameters for pervasive computing and some existing protocols for different pervasive environments. It explores a protocol on position-based privacy-preserving secure communication for pervasive mobile ad-hoc communication. The chapter details a user controllable privacy-preserving secure communication in pervasive computing. The key notions on privacy and security associated with pervasive communication are summarized. Sk. Md. Mizanur Rahman and his team, proposed an on-demand position-based routing protocol for pervasive mobile ad hoc environment, where position information of a node was kept secret during the communication among the nodes in the network. The protocol is described in detail with respect to the functionalities of the nodes. Jason and his team, proposed an user-controllable security and privacy system, where they developed and evaluated three different applications, that are a contextual instant messenger, a people finder application, and a phone-based application for access control.
