Abstract

From the previous chapter, it is clear that Secure Electronic Transaction (SET) imposes a larger computational load than Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) because of the authentication of each message exchange. This makes it too expensive for small payments. In addition, SET is not readily adapted to payments with integrated-circuit cards.
