ABSTRACT

In this chapter, several representative systems used to improve the informatics infrastructure of electronic commerce (e-commerce) are discussed. We begin with the European programs SEMPER (Secure Electronic Marketplace for Europe) and CAFE (Conditional Access for Europe), as well as the common project of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and CommerceNet, JEPI (Joint Electronic Payment Initiative). We present next real-life applications: the platforms PICS™ (Platform for Internet Content Selection), P3P (Platform for Privacy Preference), and the analysis of user profiles and fidelity cards. Finally, we give some configurations to guarantee the quality of the offered services.
