ABSTRACT
Since the µstrip is an open t.l., some of the transmitted energy is not guided by the t.l., but is instead radiated in the surrounding space above the dielectric, as indicated in Figure 4.1.1. This phenomenon is called “radiation.” For stripline, since it is a closed t.l., radiation can be neglected. For this reason, unless otherwise stated this section radiation is only pertinent to µstrip devices.
