ABSTRACT
The first indication that potential barriers can improve the efficiency of PbTe thin films was reported in
the 1970s.
There were subsequent theoretical and experimental attempts to use potential barriers in
semiconductors
and on metal-semiconductor interfaces,
but high-efficiency devices have not
materialized out of this work.
