Inorganic, in many cases intermetallic compounds, labeled “clathrates,” have attracted widespread
attention revealing a high potential for thermoelectric applications. These intermetallide compounds are
periodic solids in which tetrahedrally bonded atoms form a framework of cages that enclose guest metal
atoms.
