ABSTRACT

Capacitance C depends on the size and shape of the bodies and their mutual location. It is proportional to the dielectric permittivity ε of the media where the bodies are located. The capacitance is measured in farads (F) if the charge is measured in coulombs (C) and the voltage in volts (V). One farad is a very big unit; practical capacitors have capacitances that are measured in micro-(µF, or 10-6F), nano-(nF, or 10-9F), and picofarads (pF, or 10-12F).
