ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on experimental methods used to measure the refractive index and optical absorbance — undoubtedly the two most important properties of a fiber that define its waveguiding properties and how much light is lost. Those measurements that are amenable to measuring fibers, polymers, and preforms will be highlighted.
