ABSTRACT

This chapter will explain the basic principles of fibre optic lighting using fibre optic cables to transfer light from the source to applications. Fibre optic lighting is used to provide the light power required for residential, commercial, and office buildings, sport centres, theatres, retirement homes, swimming pools, backyards, walkways, stairways, show cases, warning signs, and advertisement panels. In medical applications, fibre optic lighting is important for delivering illumination to remote parts of the body and for carrying coherent images.
