ABSTRACT

Aerial robotics serves as a platform for the next generation that consists of a robotic concept emphasized from a small micro aerial vehicle to a large xedwing multirotor drone. The application of such a platform widely depends upon the utilization. Starting from aerial surveillance to trafc monitoring and geological and weather survey in agriculture, there is a wide range of applications for aerial robotics; in addition, services such as inspection and maintenance are also being performed using aerial robots. Various organizations currently offer different professional aerial robotic platforms. Besides, the advancement of open-source hardware, microelectromechanical system (MEMS), and smartphone technology accelerates the growth of aerial robotics in various aspects. Three-dimensional (3D) robotics plays a leading role in glorifying the eld of aerial robotics. Current research focuses on specic aerial robotics domain such as biologically inspired aerial robots-robots with hybrid locomotion that can travel in both air and water, as well as on ground and in deep forest environment. Aerial robots are also being used to study the evolution of ight.
