ABSTRACT

Open-source software is similar to proprietary software; however, it can be distinguished from the others by its license/terms of use that ensures certain freedom that proprietary software does not offer. Open-source software guarantees the right to access and modify the source code as it can use redistribution and reuse properties. In general, no royalty/service charges are applicable for open-source software, although at times there may be an obligation to share, update, and enhance open-source software products widely. As a result, the entire community benets and enjoys the newly introduced features of that software.
