ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 aims to document the development and implementation of the media literacy unit in one of the participating schools. The chapter first describes how the unit’s theme and content came about and then introduces key pedagogic considerations, including how the media literacy dimensions were to figure in the unit plan. The bulk of the chapter is devoted to an explication of how classroom discussions, tasks, activities and students’ produced work evidence a broadening of English literacy instruction in Eastridge Secondary School, informed by the media literacy dimensions.
